January Favourites!

Where did the time go and how is it February already!? Hope everyone is staying warm and safe. At least where I am, we have a major winter storm. Can't go anywhere... so it's the perfect time to work on the blog today! Today I bring you... my January favourites!

Body
This month's favourite is The Body Shop's Body Butter in in Shea Butter. I got this as a gift from my co-worker (she's so nice!). I don't really try a lot of The Body Shop's products but loved this body butter! Its really good for the cold, dry winter months we have up here in Canada as it is very moisturizing. One application of this body butter and you are good to go! I would definitely purchase this as well as try other products and scents as well.

My other favourite is the Bath and Body Works hand soap in Black Cherry Merlot. I bought this awhile back in the Fall months. At the time, I never heard of the scent or tried it. So I decided to give it a try and it was well worth the impulse decision! It smells sooooo good! To me, it smells like the cherry Kool-Aid mix (or I could just be crazy!). It doesn't actually smell like wine but more of a sweet scent. Since I've tried this I'm totally going to try other products in this scent. It is such an underrated scent and it definitely does not get enough praise. My verdict, go buy it!

Makeup
If you follow my blog you'll know that I recently purchased the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Blushing Bride. I absolutely love this blush! I've been wearing it every day since! Its pigmented, which is good for me since I feel as if blush doesn't exactly show up on my skin tone very easily. It's also long lasting. While I haven't tested out the 12 hour claim on the product, I know it lasts a work day for me. I wonder why I hadn't tried this product sooner!? Yet again, another Tarte product does not cease to amaze me. I would be more than okay to purchase some other shades in their blush collection.

I also recently purchased Revlon's Colourburst Matte Balm in the shade Sultry. I purchased it on Essie Button's recommendation of one of the best makeup products for 2014. I love it! I'm a sucker and loyal fan of MAC Cosmetics lipstick. So I haven't really ventured into the world of tinted lip balm. I can safely say this was probably my first purchase. There are many shades and colours available to choose from. I went with a very neutral, skin toned colour. It's easy to use, glides on great and it smells like mint! You might have to re-apply throughout the day but for the cost (which was very minimal) you can't go wrong with this purchase! There is also a lot of product in one tube so it will probably last you a long time. My favourite way to wear this is with a light purple lip liner where I only fill in the corners of my lips. The rest if filled in with Sultry!

Fashion
I have been loving my new 'anchor' portofino top that I got as a gift for Christmas! This top is from Express. Funny thing is, I was looking at this shirt for the longest time to buy from Express. It so happens that my family got it for me (I think they know me way to well!). I love the style of the portofino top. I will pretty much love any design of the portofino top that you throw at me. However, I love this particular design for it's deep blue colour and the white anchors. I love to be on water and absolutely love to sail (cruising is my all time favourite vacation to go on). The design reminds of all the fun times I've had cruising and all those hours at the lake fishing and spending time with family. I think it's a pretty good combo to wear during these cold months. It gives me something nice and warm to look forward to!

Book
Many of you know that I came back from a trip to Disney World a little over a week ago. It was amazing! What was also amazing, were the Harry Potter theme parks at Universal Studios! I've always been a HUGE Harry Potter fan since the book came out (I was about 10 years old then). I've been a dedicated reader since. I will do a post on the Harry Potter theme parks sometime soon. But it was simply amazing, incredible and just jaw dropping! Anyways the point is that I fell in love with Harry Potter on a whole new level! When I returned from my trip I just had to start re-reading the books again. I'm only on the first one so far, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. However, re-reading this series is kind of eye opening in the sense that there are so many little details that I missed while reading it the first two times!

TV Show
By far it's Downton Abbey! I was a bit hesitant deciding to watch this TV drama as I didn't think I would get into the whole early 1900s era. I was totally wrong! It's sooo good, even my husband likes it! You can check out what other TV shows I've been watching on this post. Currently I'm on Season 3, so I still have a lot of catching up to do. It's also very addicting! I have to tell myself to stick to watching only one episode at a time but it's very hard. The characters, plot, lifestyle, and drama is well written and carried out well on screen. It makes me want to go back to this time period and experience it all!

Place
How could I forget my time spent at Disney World! It was a really good trip, with lots of walking. I went with my husband and we saw and did everything we wanted! I will do a detailed post of Disney World and different aspects of the park. However, if I had to choose the one thing that I absolutely loved the most, it would have to be the Dole Whip Float! It's basically pineapple juice with your choice of vanilla, pineapple or orange soft serve on top. It's the most simple/basic thing but it's about the best thing man has ever created! In the picture below I got pineapple and orange soft serve. It was so good I've been day dreaming and actually dreaming of this ever since I got back! If anyone is from Ontario and knows where I can find a similar product, let me know!

And that's it! What have been your favourites for January?

December Favourites!

It's that time of month again for... December favourites! I have to say that December was truly a great month - with festivities, the holidays, and new years! All I want to do is re-live December all over again!!! For this month, I have a variety of items. Here we go!

Body
I bought this St. Ives body wash about a month ago and finally got to use it! Let me tell you... it smells like heaven! This scent is Pink Lemon and Mandarin Orange and it's amazing! It smells and feels like I'm in the tropical rainforest when I use this in the shower (which is good for me during the cold winter months here in Canada). I want to try out their other scents for body wash as well. I also included the St. Ives body lotion in my November favourites. Love their products!

The Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy body lotion in Eucalyptus Spearmint is to die for! I've been using this particular lotion and scent for a very long time. I ran out of it a few months ago and recently Bath and Body Works had a sale where all Aromatherapy products were 50% off. Of course I bought this! Believe it or not, it does have a very calming and relaxing feel to it.

Makeup
I don't think one is a surprise to you if you follow me on Instagram. I was in the need of a new foundation for oily skin and this does not disappoint! I took Ingrid Nilsen's and EssieButton's recommendations on this one, as they are dedicated users of this product. I'm really happy about this purchase and love it! It goes on smoothly with a flawless finish and is very long lasting. A definite try!

I have to admit that I am no expert when it comes to the wing-liner look. I try my best and despite trying it so many times, I can still never get it perfect! Anyone else out there feel my pain? I got the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner as a sample when I ordered some makeup products at Sephora. I love it! The tip is probably the finest tip I've ever seen for liquid eye liner. It's also not a hard tip - I would say that it feels like a paint brush. This is useful as you can have more control with your streaks and make very precise lines. It's a definite keeper for a wing-liner! I will also be purchasing a full product size of this when this one is done.

Book
I recently took a picture on Instagram with my latest book splurge - Blog Inc by Joy from Oh Joy! I saw this book as part of a gift guide for Christmas and totally had to get my hands on it! That weekend, I made a trip to Chapters and got it! No regrets whatsover. This is a great book to explain what Blogging and the Blogging industry is all about. For me, I neither have any previous experience blogging, nor am I am expert in the field, so I can use all the advice and words of wisdom I can get about blogging. This has helped tremendously and it is very well written. The book is chock full of practical advice with real life examples and inspiration from successful bloggers in various fields.

Entertainment
Growing up, board games were such an essential part of just being a kid and having a good time! My husband and I have recently rediscovered our love for board games and just had to get these two classics for the holidays. We literally spent time playing Scrabble and Yahtzee while watching movies. I must add that we can get pretty competitive too! We're definitely going to be growing our board game collection to enjoy together and with friends and family. We're thinking about getting 'Clue' next. Thoughts?

Holiday Items
Since it's my December favourites, it just wouldn't be complete without my favourite holiday items! I have to say that I really enjoyed the Bath and Body Works candles in 'Holiday' and 'Merry Cookie' scents. They smell so good! The best part is that I still have a lot of candle left to burn for next year!

That's a wrap for my December favourites! What were some of your December favourites?

November Favourites

It's that time again, monthly favourites! I can't believe we're at the end of 2014 already....it seems as if the year just started a few months ago....

Anyways, enough of my rambling, let's get right to my November favourites!

Body
I have been loving the St. Ives body lotion! It's been perfect during the colder weather as I find that my skin tends to get a lot dryer. I really like the Oatmeal and Shea Butter scent as its mild and keeps me moisturized for a very long period of time. One application and you're good to go for the day! I recently picked up another scent called Coconut Milk and Orchid Extract. It smells so great and I can just imagine the benefits of coconut milk on the skin.

Makeup
I was on a mission to find a new foundation that would work with my breakout prone/oily skin type and... I found it! I recently went to Sephora and got a sample of the Tarte Amazonian Clay Liquid Foundation. I love, love, LOVE this product so much! It's one of those products where I was like, seriously, where have you been all this time??!!! I love the coverage, how it blends, and the airbrush finish it leaves on my skin. I plan to do a full review on this product soon as soon as I receive my full size product in the mail!

Since I have a problem with oily skin, the makeup artist at Sephora did recommend the Becca Poreless Primer. Again, where have you been all these lonely, oil-filled years?! I've tried out a few primers and this by far keeps me the most matte. I usually wear makeup for 12+ hours and at the end, I'm still matte! This product does not get enough praise and recognition. I plan to do a review on this product soon as well - as soon as I get my full sized product in the mail...

My MAC Diva lipstick is the perfect red for my skin tone during this time of year! It makes everything so festive and Christmas-y (if that's a word!). I've had this one in my collection for a couple of years now but I gotta say it's my favourite during this time of year.

Fashion
My favourite this month has to be these big pink fluffy slippers that I bought from Ardene's a while ago! Even through we have the heat cranked up in the house, I still find that walking on the hardwood floor is cold! During these cold winter months, these babies are on my feet all the time when I'm at home!

Nails
I've been really liking Essie's Fishnet Stockings for this time of year. I think I will also be wearing this quite often during December as well. Red is usually not my go to colour in the spring and summer so I gotta get all the use out of it now!

Books
Gone Girl (I know huge surprise...lol!). It is soooooo good! That's all I gotta say - you can read my complete book review here.

Movie
The Hunger Games and Catching Fire! I'm dying to see Mockingjay Part 1 but I'm not sure if I'll be able to catch this one in the movie theaters. To prepare myself for Mockingjay I re-watched the first two movies. They are so good! I always get hooked on them! I've also read the books so I know what to expect. I think this would make a good holiday gift. You can also check out my Hunger Games book series review here

Television
Scandal... surprise!... (not)... I can't get enough of this show! This is what I don't like the most about TV.. the show starts, which I watch every week and it ends with a finale... the break in between the finale to the premier is just unbearable... I need another TV series to watch! Any suggestions? I'm also done Suits and I heard Once Upon a Time is also good.

Food
This is more of a dessert than a food but a few weekends ago I made the most delicious M&M cookies! I got the recipe off Pinterest (remember to follow me as well!). Super easy and requires very little skills to make and it's super good!

These are a few of my favourite things (Sound of Music reference)! What were your favourites for this November?

October Obsessions!

It's the end of October already and we're on to November! Where does the time go.....?

My October Obsessions are:

Pumpkin Spice Lattes
I have not been able to get enough of these! They are SO GOOD! They warm you up from the inside and they scream everything Fall. I'm definitely going to miss having these once the season is over. Although I am super excited for Christmas drinks...hehe!

My Owl Mug
I got this owl mug from Chapters and I couldn't be happier! Isn't it the cutest thing ever! What really caught my attention to buy it was the top being removable. Coolest-thing-ever! I'm a happy camper when I drink my coffee out of this in the mornings :)

Peanut Butter and Toast
I know it's a really odd obsession to have... I bought a brand new jar of peanut butter and that's where it all started. Freshly toasted bread with smothered peanut butter, breakfast couldn't get any better. Not sure how long this obsession will last, but I'm loving it!

Halloween!
I am so excited for Halloween this year! I think it's because we've moved to a house and can really enjoy doing Halloween related things. Also, the neighborhood that I live in is serious about Halloween! People here go all out with their decorations! I've been loving all of the decor, recipes and movies too.

What have been your favourite things for October?

September Obsession

My September Obsession! I have two things this month. The first are some of my iPad games that I cannot get enough of. They are called: Threes & Next Numbers! If you don't know what these games are or don't have them, you have to download them! What I like about them is that they make you think. Sometimes I feel as if my brain isn't always given the opportunity to work with numbers the way I did in school. And i think these games solve that problem.

Threes is a problem solving game where you use the sides of the board to add like numbers. The goal is to keep adding numbers for as long as possible without filling up the entire game board. Once you cannot make any other moves, the game ends. I love the little square characters in Threes! They are really adorable and they make the cutest little noises ever. My husband wants to dress up as these numbers for Halloween. If we decide to do that, I'll let you know how it goes. Nevertheless, I can keep going with this game for hours! It's a Sunday morning favourite for sure!

Next Numbers is great because it gets me all competitive! Next Numbers has multiple game settings to test your speed and brain power when it comes to numbers. I really like this game! It's loads of fun! The best part is that it really keeps me thinking and on my toes which I really like.

My last September obsession is the TV series called Suits! I wrote a blog post about this earlier but I cannot get enough of this show! I've been watching it all month (when I have the time). So far I am on Season two and I think there are four seasons. Needless to say, it's been keeping me busy!

There you have it! My September obsessions! What were some of your obsessions for September?

August Obsession

Hi Everyone!

I thought it would be fun to do a post on my monthly obsession! In August, I had one thing that I was obsessing over and I'm still obsessing over it. It is my Kate Spade wallet! I bought it during my recent trip to Chicago. Of course, I had to get it in pink. It's more of a magenta pink. I really wanted a colour that would make me happy every time I saw it. These are the reasons why I love it so much!

  • It's pink!
  • It has a zipper so nothing can fall out.
  • It's a really big wallet. Size was important to me since I have a lot of cards to keep in my wallet. I've never been able to find a wallet that is big enough for all of my stuff.
  • It has a big pouch in the middle for holding coins.
  • I can fit my cell phone in it. This makes things easier as I only need to carry around one item.
  • You can wear it as a statement piece.
  • The material seems to be very strong.
  • It's makes me happy every time I see it!
  • I feel like its very stylish.

So that's my obsession for August! I will definitely be doing a post at the end of September to let you know what my obsession is then.

What has been your obsession for August?
