Movie Review: Dr. Cabbie

Title: Dr. Cabbie
Director: Jean-François Pouliot
Actors: Vinay Virmani, Adrianne Palicki, Kunal Nayyar, Isabelle Kaif
Genre: Comedy, Drama
Rating: 4.5/5

Synopsis: Deepak, who is a certified doctor in India, emigrates to Toronto, Canada to seek a better life for himself and his mother. As he tries to find himself a job as a doctor in Toronto, he stumbles upon a common obstacle many immigrants with medical backgrounds face; He is not qualified according to Canadian standards. After many, many unsuccessful attempts at employment, Deepak's friend, Tony, convinces him to become a taxi driver. During his first few moments as a cabbie, a certain incident involving a pregnant woman going into labour is recorded and posted online, causing him to be a local sensation. Realizing that he can't stop himself from practicing what he loves to do, he practices as doctor in his cab, adopting the name "Dr. Cabbie," and outfitting his cab into a mobile clinic. It's not long before he runs into legal trouble about practicing illegally as a doctor in the country. Along the way, there is a love of course! A love story that could solve many of the obstacles he faces.

My Favourite Part: I love the comedic parts! There are a lot of reviews out there bashing the funny parts of the movie. But I have to say that I really enjoyed them! I abolsutely loved the local Toronto talent. Vinjay Virmani, Superwoman (Lily Singh who is a Youtuber) and Mocha from the Ras and Mocha show on 93.5 FM. I also really enjoyed having the movie shot in Toronto. I definitely recognized a lot of places.

Lessons Learned: Due to my profession, I do see many qualified professionals who emigrate to Canada and cannot find a job in their field due to country regulations and standards. It is quite unfortunate since these individuals have gone through a lot of educational training and have years of experience. Especially in professions where the need is greater, I feel that there should be movement towards making it an easier process for these professionals to become certified.

I also think that no matter how bad the situation is, there is always light at the end of the dark tunnel. Things always happen for a reason and things always work out for the best.

I was also very surprised to see Katrina Kaif's sister in the movie, Isabelle!

Would I Recommend It?: I definitely recommend it! If you want to laugh, this would be a good pick.

National Coffee Day!

Today is National Coffee Day! Let's give a big cheer to the most wonderful, embracing and warm cup of hot beverage to ever exist! If you haven't guessed already, I'm a HUGE coffee lover. I like my coffee first thing in the morning with a little milk and cream. Depending on the blend of coffee I will add some sugar.

But let's just take a moment to appreciate all the goodness that coffee brings:

  • It definitely wakes us up in the morning.
  • There is no smell on Earth that compares to the heavenly smell of freshly brewed or ground coffee.
  • The first sip just wants to make you melt.
  • It goes so well with reading a book, watching the news, reading the newspaper, watching early morning TV shows, working and simple conversation.
  • Social time = coffee time!
  • There are so many blends and flavours to choose from.
  • You can have it hot or cold.

So here`s a little toast (no pun intended!) to coffee and all the wonderfulness it brings me every day! It always makes me smile and cheerful! It`s just one of those simple things that make life so wonderful....

What`s your favourite blend of coffee?

Lush Haul!

I recently did a Lush haul to replenish my face cleansing routine products. These are my go to products that I use to cleanse my face in the morning and night. I'll share what I bought, but I will also do another detailed post about my morning and nighttime face cleansing routine, as a lot more goes into it than just the products.

This works great for my skin type as I am oily and very prone to acne. It really cleared up my skin when I kept breaking out.

I use this as my moisturizer. Since my skin is oily, this is a very light cream that won't make me extra oily. It also helps with removing marks on your skin.

This is my toner. I only use this during my nighttime routine. This really helps with cleaning out any extra makeup and dirt off my skin, as well as preventing acne. I love the feeling of this product when I spray it on my face.

I love Lush products because they are all-natural. I have tried SO many products over the years trying to look for the perfect product for my face and have just been disappointed. My skin would always get more irritated and I would just be starting all over again. I recently tried these Lush products back in February and I have no regrets! I use some of their other products as well and I love them all! I can do another post about those products.

Do you use Lush products in your morning or nighttime routine? If so, which ones?

Survivor Premier Season 29 - First Impressions

Hi Everyone!

Last night was the season premier of Survivor - Blood vs. Water. I thought I would share my first impressions of season 29. I don't think I will do a review every week but maybe every once in awhile. I will definitely let you know what I think when the season comes down to a wrap later this year. Also SPOILER ALERT for anyone who has not watched the episode yet!

But first impressions....here they are:

  • Love that they are bringing back the Blood vs. Water theme. I think that it brings another element to the game that wasn't really introduced in other themes before.
  • I appreciate that they haven't brought back any returners. I think it gives all the other new-comers an equal chance. As much as its entertaining and really enjoyable to see the returners play, they always have an advantage in the game by already being out there and experiencing it.
  • There are many mixtures of couples on this season. I think there is only one husband and wife combo. There are many partner/child relations and many partner/partner relations.
  • This group is really stepping it up with playing the game really fast (I mean you have to do this in Survivor anyways!). But they got to work right away with a shelter, starting fire, building alliances and even looking for the immunity idol. I like to see this because it really means they want it.
  • Not sure how long the professional baseball player will last on the show. Usually when professional players are involved, they pose as a physical threat.
  • I am rooting for the husband and wife couple who are a firefighter and police officer! Their interaction was priceless and very emotional during the first episode. Although I can see that the others would look at them as a threat throughout the game.
  • I felt bad for the pair of sisters who also played in the Amazing Race. They came in with a target on their backs which didn't prove to be helpful. It will be interesting to where the other sister will end.
  • Introducing Exile Island with Blood vs. Water sounds like it will be very interesting. Exile Island is very different from Redemption Island as I feel like Exile is a lot more desolate and empty. I think we will see a lot of emotion over loved ones being sent to Exile Island.
  • Looks like someone will be leaving the game or quitting according to the previews of what lies ahead.
  • Last but not least, Jeff is the most amazing host ever!
Those are my thoughts about Survivor Season 29! Let me know your thoughts below!

My Essentials for Sick Days

I have not been feeling well for the past couple of days. Sneezing, runny nose, sore throat and congested head. There's not really much you can do when you're sick. I thought I would share my essentials that I always have around for when these times come around.

Orange Juice - Need I say much here? OJ is full of vitamins that will help your immune system.
Ricola - For my sore throat. I like the honey lemon flavour.
Honey Ginger Drink - This is an instant tea that you mix with hot water. It is the best thing ever! I've been drinking this for years and swear by it.
Vicks - I put some of this on my chest, throat, back and nose. It helps with de-congestion.
Tissues - I've been using Puffs with Lotion and it love it! For once, my nose isn't bruised.
Good Book - Besides doing a lot of sleeping and getting rest, I've been catching up on some reading, vlogs, reality TV and Suits!

What are your essentials for sick days?

DIY Magnetic Chalkboard & Decorative Glass Bottle

I've always been obsessed with the idea of making my own magnetic chalkboard for my office at work. I feel like everything is about the whiteboard these days when the chalkboard just doesn't get enough love. Plus, it brings back memories of the good ole school days!

And I didn't want any ordinary chalkboard. I wanted a MAGNETIC chalkboard. When researching, most DIYs required magnetic paint and chalkboard paint. However, I thought this might create a problem of peeling since there are many layers. Also, would both types of paint work effectively together?

Then, I found one idea that introduced the concept of taking a baking pan (Which, surprisingly, is magnetic) and spraying painting it with chalkboard paint....it would be a chalkboard AND magnetic! So that's exactly what I did and the result is below.

I love my magnetic chalkboard and I think it's a great addition to my office. I decorated it with buttons and added some flowers as well for colour.

The other new decor piece in my office is this green bottle. It's super easy too! It was actually this pear and apple sparkling drink that I got from Ikea (I forgot the name...). After it was finished, I took off the label and left it as it. I thought it would make a great addition to my office just as is! I love it!

This picture was taken at home, not at the office lol.

So there you go! Two simple decor ideas that are really in-expensive to spice up your personal office space!

What's your favourite DIY for Fall? or Thanksgiving? or even Halloween?

Book Review: Wild

Title: Wild
Author: Cheryl Strayed
Genre: Non-Fiction; Inspirational
Rating: 5/5

Synopsis: After the passing of Cheryl's mom, and divorcing from her husband Paul, she knew that things had to change. She sold all that she had, left her rental apartment, quit her server job and hiked the Pacific Crest Trail. While hiking, she meets new people, reflects on her life and discovers herself.

Why Did I Pick This Book?: It was a Heather's Pick at Chapters. Also, the book has been made into a movie, so I thought I would try it out before watching it. I was also looking for something inspirational.

Favourite Part: I really enjoyed the parts in which Cheryl was able to accept her past life as it was, even though she may not have been 100% happy the way that it went, and move on from that. The hike made her realize certain things about herself. It was great to see her self discovery and achievements.

Lessons Learned:
Anything is possible, as long as you put your mind to it.
You can live with the things on your back. Everything else that we want is purely materialistic and we can live without.
You really don't need a whole lot of money to enjoy the true facets of life.
As much as you think you will not make it through, you will. The mind is powerful.

Would I Recommend It?: Yes! This is such an inspiring and motivating book. I definitely recommend it.

How Would The Movie Do?: I think this story is definitely Oscar worthy. In fact, the TIFF(Toronto International Film Festival) happened recently and Wild had its premier. Critics are saying it could be nominated for Best Movie and Best Actress.

Would I Read Other Books By This Author: I probably would, if she has written about another significant life event.

Next Read: Cinder by Marissa Meyer
First Impressions: It's definitely a different type of genre than what I am used to reading. But I love Cinderella so I'm really excited to know how this one will play out. I'll keep you posted!

My New Favourite TV Series for Fall

Earlier this year I really got into the TV series called Scandal and boy is it ever scandalous! I absolutely fell in love with the show and I am patiently waiting for its premier next week. After watching all three seasons I wasn't really sure if I could watch anything else to really top it... Since the epic season three finale though, I've been looking for a really interesting, exciting, suspenseful and thrilling TV series to tide me over until season four starts. I asked around and got personal recommendations from family and friends for a show called Suits. And from what they say, it seems as if this TV series could be my new Scandal :)

I just started watching Suits this weekend and have fallen in love with it! I'm still on the first season and things are really heating up! As I continue to watch I can definitely keep you posted on what I think. I think this TV series will keep me pretty busy for the Fall season.

As mentioned, next week Scandal season 4 premiers and I - cannot - wait! I'm also a huge fan of the reality TV series Survivor. I think that is also starting next week as well. I'll be pretty busy with my shows for the Fall season after retiring from them over the summer.

Maybe after Suits I will try to watch House of Cards which I've also heard great things about as well.

What's your favourite TV show?

100 Days Until Christmas!

Yes, you read the title right... there are 100 days until Christmas! Where has the time gone...

But in all seriousness, 100 days until Christmas means a lot of things! Here's a list of things that I'm considering as part of the countdown:

  1. Writing my wish list for Christmas and secretly slipping it in places where my husband will pay attention to it!
  2. Shopping for outdoor Christmas decor
  3. Making a shopping list of gifts we need to buy
  4. Planning what ornaments (or theme) to use for the Christmas tree
  5. Deciding on what new Christmas decor to buy for our living space
  6. Planning out our baking list and starting to buy bulk ingredients
  7. Looking at the TV Guide and PVRing a lot of Christmas movies
  8. Putting the Santa Claus parade in my calendar
  9. Planning out Christmas related activities during the time off we get
  10. Planning out Boxing Day shopping! (It's a Canadian thing, kind of like Black Friday in the United States).

Those are my top 10 things that I'm starting to seriously think about from now. I am planner so when it comes to big holidays like these, I hate buying things last minute. Especially during the holiday season, things are just way too hectic and I hate being caught in that. I plan to have my Christmas shopping done by November. That way in December I can focus on and enjoy everything that there is to enjoy during the holiday season. Whether it's watching Christmas movies, sipping on eggnog, listening to Christmas carols, writing Christmas cards, baking or planning out the holiday season, I can't wait! After all, the countdown begins today with only 100 days until Christmas!

What's on your to-do list for Christmas?

Final Garden Haul!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I know I did a post last week about my garden but I thought I would share a picture of my last and final garden haul of the year! After dinner last night we decided to pick everything that was left on the plants. The weather has really taken a turn to being extremely cold for September (at least in my opinion). I mean, I put on my heat today since it was so cold in the house! We figured that nothing would really be growing anymore due to the weather. Anyways here's our final garden haul of the year! A few tomatoes, cucumbers and the baby bell pepper! We did have a few ripened tomatoes, but used them this weekend. Not sure if the cucumbers will taste good since they usually would grow longer. I'm also not sure about the bell pepper, but I will cut into and use it for something. Anyways I thought I would share!

My Favourite Movie Snacks!

It's Friday! Friday and the weekends call for... movie night! Whether its with your partner, family, kids, or friends, its bound to be a good time. You really can't go wrong with movie nights. What makes movie nights extra fun and awesome are the movie snacks!

Movie snacks could be anything from yummy leftovers, Chinese take-out, pizza, chicken wings, nachos, popcorn, candy, chocolate or ice cream.... (at least to me!).

I love having take-out or a piping hot pizza and watching TV or movies. So naturally those are a given with the occasional movie night. However, my ultimate favourite snack for a movie night is hot, buttery, freshly made popcorn! This is my weakness! I will even go as far as drive to the movie theatre to get movie theatre popcorn, if I am having that craving. If not, Orville microwaveable popcorn will do. But it has to be buttery! At the movie theatres, my popcorn always has to have layered butter...otherwise, it's just not perfect.

Now to go with my hot, buttery, freshly made popcorn is always a nice ice cold Coke with a straw. Yes, it has to be ice cold and I have to drink it with a straw. I don't know why.....There's just something about buttery popcorn and coke that goes so well together!. Anytime that I'm having popcorn, there has to be Coke around.

To go with these I like my candy favourites as well. I like to munch on Mike and Ikes, Lemon Heads and Berries. Of course I will never say no to refrigerated Reese Peanut Butter cups as well!

Nevertheless, movie night is also fun but more fun when its accompanied by some delicious snacks to enjoy! During movie night this weekend, maybe try a different snack then your usual to try something new! I'd like to know!

What's your favourite movie snack?

Garden Lessons 2014

As summer is coming to end (sad face :( ), so is my garden.... The leaves are starting to turn brown and there aren't many new vegetables growing. I thought I would do a post on the garden Do's and Don'ts from my own personal experience this year. I am not a garden professional and I am only offering my opinions. This year I planted zucchinis, carrots, spinach, long beans, hot pepper, sweet bell pepper, tomatoes, pumpkin, basil, chives and parsley. I got at least one of each vegetable except long beans or pumpkin. Not sure as to why those did not grow, however I definitely ended up growing a lot of tomatoes! I got so many that I had to give away to family and friends.

Garden Do's
  • Aerate your soil.
  • Buy fresh soil and mix with existing soil.
  • Use tomato cages. It helps for the tomatoes to grow strong. Plus, the cage will keep the plant upright when it starts to tilt due to the weight of the tomatoes.
  • Start planting seeds in containers before the warm weather starts. This will give the plant a head start on growing. Then you can transfer the plant to your garden when the weather is warm.
  • Water everyday when there is not a significant amount of rainfall. The summer months can be very hot and dry. It's important that they get a lot of water.
  • Take out the weeds. They hinder the growth of the plants.
  • Use eggshells. I used this to keep away snails as our backyard had tons of them. I also used it as a natural fertilizer to the garden.
  • Use coffee grinds for natural fertilization. It also gives the plants a boost due to the caffeine.
  • Put your garden in a spot where there will be enough sunshine.

My garden

Tomatoes with the tomato cage

Garden Don'ts
  • Don't crowd your plants! I thought I spaced out my plants when I planted the seeds. However, when the plants grew to their full size, my garden was simply not big enough. I had my zucchini leaves growing on top of my carrots and spinach. This really hindered some of the growth in my garden this year. At least for next year I know what kind of plants need space and I can plan this accordingly.
  • When I first planted seeds back in May I planted carrot, spinach and long green bean seeds. I simply dug a hole and sprinkled some seeds in it, covered the hole and watered. Simple enough. So you think. When the plants grew to their full size, I found they were all bunched up together that this hindered their growth a lot! I didn't expect for every seed that I 'sprinkled' to grow into a plant. Now I know for next year that 1 seed =1 plant. I will definitely be taking more precaution in this area.
  • You're making a mistake by not planting a garden. Plant a garden! There are so many benefits!

Baby sweet bell pepper that is still growing! I only got one for the entire season...

Overgrown and crowded zucchini plants taking over my carrots and spinach.

Cucumbers!

Gardening was a great experience overall. I found it very therapeutic and relaxing. I also found myself becoming very excited to see the fruits of my labour grow every day! Picking the ripe vegetables is truly rewarding and fulfilling. Another rewarding and fulfilling moment is using your vegetables to cook with. There is definitely satisfaction in this. I also learned something new and I gained some new skills! I would go even as far to say that these are lifelong skills.

If you haven't tried gardening or your nervous about starting one, make it a goal for next year and just do it! You really can't go wrong with it and even if it doesn't go according to what you thought, at least you tried! Or you can always start small by planting your favorite herbs in a pot and go from there.

Herb pot with most of the basil already picked.

What vegetables did you plant in your garden this summer?

MAC, Spring and Chapters Haul!

As mentioned in my previous blog post, I had a pretty busy weekend. I did some shopping and thought I would share my haul.

MAC
I had a gift card from my birthday and finally decided to use it. Lipstick and eyeliner are my must-haves for makeup. Naturally I ended up buying all lip products. I ended up getting MAC`s Rebel lipstick which is in a Satin finish, Up The Amp which is an Amplified Creme and a lip pencil in Vino.

I find that dark colours work best with my deep toned skin colour. I already have all the usuals that any MAC makeup artist would suggest such as Media, Diva, Paramount etc...The one colour that I didn`t have in my collection was Rebel (see picture to the left; lipstick on the left). I feel like this colour gets a lot of attention in the Fall and thought I would pick that one up. I didn`t need to be convinced about the colour as I know a few people that have it and love it! I`m really excited to wear this colour for the Fall and Winter season.

Up The Amp (see picture to the left; lipstick on the right) is definitely not a colour I would pick at all for myself. In fact, I would never have considered this colour if it wasn`t for the MAC makeup artist that suggested it. So I tried it on and instantly fell in love with it! It`s completely different than anything that I have. It does remind me of MAC`s Capricious, which I`ve owned and used entirely in the past. I think it could be paired with a magenta lip liner to really bring the colour out. I`m excited to wear this colour. It`s not a Fall colour but I feel it can be paired with a lot of neutrals.

Rebel swatch on top; Up The Amp swatch on the bottom.

I swear on MAC`s lip pencils! I did own Cherry and lost it ever since I returned from my trip to Chicago! I couldnt`t find it...So I thought I could pick up a lip pencil that would go with Media, Rebel and Diva. Vino was the one! Can`t wait to wear this one too!

Vino lip pencil

Heart Hangover with Vino on the left; Diva with Vino on the right.

Spring
I needed a pair of little black booties for the Fall as when the weather starts to get chilly, you need to protect those feet! So I happened to walk in Spring and saw that the Borovsky shoes were $20 off! I couldn`t pass up the deal and got the black pair. I love the Burgundy and Khaki colour as well. I was so close to getting the Khaki colour but they didn`t have my size....I think this will be a great addition to my outfits for the Fall season.

Chapters
I also got a Chapters gift card for my birthday from my husband and another one from my co-workers. I thought I would browse around and pick up some good reads for the Fall season. I tend to get a lot of reading done during the Fall months. I ended up getting Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand and The Pearl That Broke Its Shell by Nadia Hashimi. There is also going to be a movie about the book Unbroken, which I would love to see. I`m really excited to curl up on the couch with a cozy throw blanket and a PSL and dive right into these books. I will most likely write reviews on them when I am done.

Speaking of PSL... I bought the prepackaged PSL VIA mix from Starbucks. I tried it yesterday and it was pretty good. Although it just doesn't compare when you actually get it from the store. There's also something more appealing about the drink being the colour orange when you order it in the store....

That`s it for my haul! What is your favourite book store to shop at? My other favourite is Costco!

My New Phone!

Hi Everyone! It's been a pretty busy weekend with shopping, errands and relaxation... but I got a new phone! Finally! I have been waiting for this moment forever! I previously had the Samsung Galaxy Nexus phone. This time around it was between the iPhone 5s or the Samsung S5. Any guesses on what I got?
..............................................................................
.....................................................................
..................................................
...............................
....................
...........
....
.

The Samsung S5! It was a bit of a difficult decision but what sold me was the sales rep's opinion on both phones. In his opinion, he said the Samsung S5 is a better phone than the iPhone 5s and gave me the facts. I was also debating whether or not I should have waited for the announcement of the new iPhone 6, to see if the iPhone 5s would decrease in price. In the end, it didn't matter since I went with the Samsung.

Since I had an Android phone before, so it honestly wasn't much of a transition. Although, there are a lot of features that I am totally in love with, with the Samsung S5.

  • It's waterproof! I've had a perfectly good phone get affected by water (by mistake) and then stop working.....It's really annoying!
  • Love the processing speed! So much faster than my old phone.
  • A bigger screen.
  • It's white! (Colour plays a HUGE part in my decision)
  • Love the finger security identification feature. It's about time they brought this technology to phones since most of the time we store our entire lives on it.
  • The camera.....is simply....amazing!!! It's 16 megapixels compared to 8 megapixels in my old camera. This camera takes amazing pictures! Very clear and crisp quality. I'm especially excited for this feature for future pictures I will upload to my blog.
  • Love all the little sounds that it makes! I especially love the whistle sound it makes when I get a text message.
  • The emojis are super cute, fun and creative on this phone. My old phone had the old school way of using keyboard characters (ie. :), :0 )
This was taken with my old phone.

All in all, it was a great weekend because I finally got a new phone! I've had my eye on this for a while now and I'm happy that I got a phone I've been wanting for a long time. I hope it lives up to all of the expectations that I have.

On a more exciting note, I got to buy a screen protector and phone case for it today!

What's your pick, the iPhone 5s or the Samsung S5?

Movie Review : The Fault In Our Stars

Title: The Fault in Our Stars
Release Year: 2014
Director: Josh Boone
Actors: Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort
Genre: Drama/Romance
Rating: 5/5!

Synopsis:  Read my short synopsis under The Fault in My Stars Book Review.

My Favourite Part: One of my most favourite parts is when they spend their time together in Amsterdam. Going on dates and just spending quality time together. I also like the ending because of the way it was portrayed and the script involved. It really, really moved and touched me in a way that was completely different from the book. Even though I know what happens since I read the book, I still had tears in my eyes.

Lessons Learned: In my book review I wrote: "There is always a good outcome to every bad situation". Although I think another lesson learned would that, despite all odds, if it's meant to be, it's meant to be. I see this through Hazel and Gus's relationship. They were meant to be for each other and cancer did not get in the way of it.

Would I Recommend It?: Definitely! It's a great movie to watch with your significant other.

King Size Reese Peanut Butter Cups!

I came home today to a unexpected surprise of King Size Reese Peanut Butter Cups in my fridge! It was a surprise from my husband! He knows that I LOVE refrigerated Reese Peanut Butter Cups! There's just something about it being cool, crisp and crunchy right out of the refrigerator....I mean, I won't turn it down if it's room temperature, but to me it's not as enjoyable... (I know I'm weird...don't judge!). If you've never tried it this way, you have to give it a shot!

I've also never really had the King Size Reese Peanut Butter Cups. I've always had the normal size. Not sure how the King Size will compare to the regular but I can imagine that it would taste just as good (maybe better since there's more to eat!). I haven't eaten them as of yet (trying to stay off of eating a lot of sweets). I like to enjoy them while watching my favourite YouTube series, TV show or movies (Btw, I'm totally into the TV show called Suits now). Just thought I would share since it was definitely one of the highlights of my day!

August Obsession

Hi Everyone!

I thought it would be fun to do a post on my monthly obsession! In August, I had one thing that I was obsessing over and I'm still obsessing over it. It is my Kate Spade wallet! I bought it during my recent trip to Chicago. Of course, I had to get it in pink. It's more of a magenta pink. I really wanted a colour that would make me happy every time I saw it. These are the reasons why I love it so much!

  • It's pink!
  • It has a zipper so nothing can fall out.
  • It's a really big wallet. Size was important to me since I have a lot of cards to keep in my wallet. I've never been able to find a wallet that is big enough for all of my stuff.
  • It has a big pouch in the middle for holding coins.
  • I can fit my cell phone in it. This makes things easier as I only need to carry around one item.
  • You can wear it as a statement piece.
  • The material seems to be very strong.
  • It's makes me happy every time I see it!
  • I feel like its very stylish.

So that's my obsession for August! I will definitely be doing a post at the end of September to let you know what my obsession is then.

What has been your obsession for August?

Jack Astor's Sauced Up Chicken Fingers

For those who are not familiar with Jack Astor's, it’s a restaurant with your normal pickings for North American fast food. Some items they do differently from the traditional dish. One of those dishes is their Sauced Up Chicken Fingers! For those that have been before, you know exactly what I'm referring to! These aren't your normal fried chicken fingers. These are fresh chicken strips, fried and then coated in a hot sauce (mild, medium or hot). Oh yeah! To everyone you're probably saying, okay and what's so special about this?

It's really hard to explain without ever trying it. Maybe it's the atmosphere, the fact that it's prepared fresh and not frozen, the sauce that they put on it. I'm not sure....But this has been my favourite for a very long time! Everytime I go to Jack's, I always get this dish. It's served with a side of fries and ranch dressing. You can get normal cut fries or sweet potato fries. I've had both and I don't really have a stronger preference for either. Lately my go to has been normal cut fries because when you dip it into the ranch dressing, it tastes like ranch potato chips...and it's sooo good! The sweet potato fries are also very good as well. They serve it with a chipotle type of dressing and the combo is really yummy! On top of this I always ask for blue cheese dressing as I really like how it tastes with the sauced up chicken fingers.

And it's not like I haven't tried other sauced up chicken fingers from other restaurants before, because I have. It's nothing like these......Anyways, I thought this dish deserved it's very own post and bragging since it's that good! This is what I had when my co-workers took me out for my birthday this week. I encourage you to try if you haven't already and if you have, comment below on why you think this dish is so unique.
